Website Features

The following information is based on the website you access to view your health record. If you are unsure of any of the features, please refer to this page to clear your understanding.

Home: This page appears when you first log in to your MyOSCAR account.  The bulletin board displays any new alerts or messages you may have received.

Personal:
This feature contains two other tabs which refer to Contact Info and Other Contacts.

  • Contact Info: Your Information including your home address, phone number and even email address. Please do remember to update this information if it happens to change.
  • Other Contacts: Add any contacts under Family Member, Medical Profession, or Company. These contacts are to contact in case of emergencies or other inquiries related to health matters. This is not a personal address book.
Summary: A summary of your health record, including date of birth, problem list, vitals, medications and etc. This is a convenient way of checking the overall health status.

Documents: Importing Documents

Allergies:
Record your allergies.  To add a new allergy, click ADD NEW ALLERGY.  Details such as type of allergen (food, environmental, pharmacological), allergen name, and description of the reaction can be submitted.  If you were tested for an allergy to a suspected allergen and found that you were not allergic, you may want to enter that result as well.

Appointments: Request for appointments are made here. These requests are based on the availability of your physician and his/her clinic hours.

Equipment: Any usage of equipment such as walkers or pacemakers can be recorded.

Immunization: All your immunization records are documented here. The vaccine name, dosage, date can be added. Other information such as expiration date, manufacturer and sequence can be added as well. Please make sure the information here is accurate and up to date.

Medications: This is a list of all the medication you have ever taken or are currently using. Information of the medication can be added such as name, date of medication started, dosage, strength, prescription/non-prescription and  etc.

Problem List: Add list of problems based on just a problem you feel or a diagnosis. Add the date, make extra comments/notes, description of the problem and the level of severity (NOTE: All emergency severities should be reported to 911 and not via MyOSCAR).

Procedure: Any type of surgery or medical procedure can be recorded. This includes adding the date, name of the procedure, location and even other comments.

Vital Signs:
This is a section where you can archive measurements such as blood pressure, temperature, blood oxygen saturation, pulse and weight.  Measurements may be taken at home or at a local clinic or pharmacy.  Results from a regular doctor's check-up can be requested and added.  Keeping track of your vital signs is important for your own personal knowledge, and is especially useful at times such as a pregnancy or post-operation to track your progress or recovery.

Surveys: Surveys are posted here, to help compile information for studies. Help us make MyOscar better by participating in such surveys.

Messages:
Received messages can be viewed, and messages can be sent. You can only receive messages from users whom you have enabled using the "Sharing" feature, and can only send others messages if they have enabled you. Please note no messages can be deleted and all can be used as a legal document in the court of law.

Export Record: You can export your record in a variety of formats including PDF.  This allows you to print out a hard copy or send the file to someone even if they do not have a MyOSCAR account.  Keep in mind that MyOSCAR can no longer control your privacy if you do so.

Sharing:You can enable others to see your record.  These individuals MUST have an Indivo/MyOSCAR account themselves. There are five access levels at present:
  1. Primary Care Provider - This is the highest level of access.  Appropriate for your family doctor and other members of your health care team, this enables your provider to read your record, update it and add documents.  Secure messages can be sent.
  2. Family Member - This allows a family member with a MyOSCAR account to read your record, but they cannot add to or change it.  Secure messaging is enabled
  3. School - This allows a school to read your immunization records, but not other sections.
  4. Research Administrator - This allows an administrator to help manage your record as part of a research project. You may be asked at the opening of your account whether you wish to participate in a study.
  5. Friend - This allows a friend to send you secure messages and read your contact information.

Log Out: Used to log out of your account. Be sure to always do so to ensure your privacy.
